In chess3d, pieces can threaten from up to 26 directions — including vertical moves between layers, planar diagonals, and space diagonals that cut through all three axes simultaneously. Rooks slide in 14 directions instead of 4. Bishops command 12 directional lines including 3D space diagonals. Knights are dramatically more powerful with triple the jump options.
